WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The American Red Cross says blood donations typically slow down during winter months, so they need you to come in and donate now that spring is here.
Anyone who donates in April will be automatically entered for a chance to win a $5,000 gift card, and three winners will be chosen. You’ll also receive a Red Cross t-shirt.
The Red Cross said blood has a shelf life of only 42 days, and with severe weather season upon us, now is an important time to donate.
April and spring are important for our region especially because that’s storm season,” Red Cross regional spokesperson Logan Wright said. “Sometimes we have cancelled drives, we have people who experience emergencies and can’t donate. We really see a disruption when these weather events happen. If you can donate now, that would be really helpful in keeping the blood supply stable for this upcoming storm season “
