Arc Raiders is at a crossroads. Embark Studios couldn’t predict the game’s enormous success, and unfortunately, that’s evident in its post-launch content. Everything is pointing to the Frozen Trail, October’s next major update, as a return to form. Before then, changes are already in the works, starting with the removal of Cred – a type of in-game currency.
In the latest Arc Raiders patch notes, Embark clarifies that Cred will be removed in-game on October 8, 2026. Explaining the change, the developer states that “we are retiring Cred as a currency, as we’ll be introducing a more expansive reward system launching with the Frozen Trail Update.” The good news is that any rewards you’ve claimed from Raider Decks will remain tied to your account.
However, if you happen to drop in for the Frozen Trail update, the patch notes clarify that “all existing Raider Deck rewards will also be available in the new system.” Until the big October update, Embark recommends spending your remaining Cred before it expires. You can chat to Shani, one of the vendors in Speranza, to get other desirables if the Raider Decks aren’t to your liking.
Unlike the shooter’s premium currency, Raider Tokens, Cred is entirely free of charge. Typically, Cred is earned from ticking off quests and extracting successfully. In-game events can also contribute to your Cred, as we’ve seen with community projects to unlock maps like Stella Montis. It’s been a while since I ventured into that map’s claustrophobic hallways, so I may need to brush up on my PvP skills before next month.
In our recent Embark Studios interview, Executive Producer of Arc Raiders, Alex Grondal, told us that “we need to figure out what drives the players to come back, what they really want.” The Frozen Trail needs to be a substantial update, but I’m not sure if those beautiful heights back in January can be reached again.
