What is the best Oblivion Remastered class? With 21 pre-built classes to choose from, as well as the ability to customize your own, figuring out the top loadout to start your big Cyrodiilian adventure with is easily the toughest part of the character creation process.

Each of the Oblivion Remastered classes comes with a set Specialization, Favored Attributes, and a subset of Major Skills that all provide a starting level bonus. What’s more, the chosen Specialization and Major Skills level up faster than those that aren’t locked in, making getting them right crucial to your early experience in the RPG. To find out what the best Oblivion Remastered class options are, alongside all the possible options, read on.

Best Oblivion Remastered class

The best Oblivion Remastered class options are Spellsword and Stealth Archer. While the former is a pre-built class that doesn’t require tweaking, the latter requires a custom class setup to get the best out of it.

Oblivion Remastered best class: the Spellsword class.

Spellsword

  • Specialization: Magic
  • Favored Attributes: Willpower, Endurance
  • Major Skills: Alteration, Blade, Block, Destruction, Heavy Armor, Illusion, Restoration

Oblivion has always felt like a game built for Battlemages and Spellswords, and the latter cemented itself as the go-to class for newbies and seasoned vets alike. This remains the case in Oblivion Remastered, with the Spellsword offering the best of both worlds when it comes to melee and magic.

Digging into the Major Skills, Blade ensures you have plenty of martial mastery, while Block, Heavy Armor, and Restoration provide a ton of early survivability. Destruction is where the bulk of your most-used arcane arts will stem from, but don’t sleep on Alteration and Illusion.

The former provides plenty of handy spells like Open (lockpicking haters rise up) and Shield (you can never be too durable). The latter, meanwhile, opens up the means to inflict status ailments and other debuffs, ensuring total domination in a fight.

We’d typically recommend running Spellsword on a Dark Elf (the best Oblivion Remastered race option for all-rounders), though you could easily get plenty of value out of a Breton thanks to their innate Magicka bonus and high resistance to magic.

Oblivion Remastered best class: the Stealth Archer class.

Stealth Archer

  • Specialization: Stealth
  • Favored Attributes: Agility, Luck
  • Major Skills: Blade, Conjuration, Destruction, Light Armor, Marksman, Restoration, Speechcraft

The Stealth Archer is an Elder Scrolls classic, utilized en masse by Oblivion and Skyrim enjoyers alike. While there isn’t a set default class for ol’ reliable – the Archer or Assassin are as close as you’ll get – we’ve concocted the perfect mix of attributes and skills to get you started.

Unsurprisingly, the Stealth specialization is our starting point as the Marksman and Sneak skills serve as the basis for the class. Doing so provides a +5 level bonus to everything within the tree, as well as bonus levelling speed.

While the RP standard for a Stealth Archer would see Agility and Speed taken as the Favored Attributes, we’ve gone a bit rogue here and opted for Luck as the secondary. Luck is by far and away the slowest attribute to level in the game, and Speed just isn’t that important when you’re sneaking around. As such, the +5 bonus you get here goes much further in Luck than anywhere else.

You could instead opt for Intelligence or Willpower to bolster your magical capabilities, or Endurance for the extra health early on – there is some flex here.

For Major Skills, take Blade from the Combat tree, just in case you ever find yourself with an empty quiver or get jumped by an enemy up close. In the Magic tree, opt for Conjuration (being able to summon homies to draw attention from you is always helpful), Destruction to gain access to amp spells like Weakness to Poison, and Restoration to keep yourself alive if you’re caught sneaking about.

Finally, in the Stealth tree, you should opt for Light Armor (durability), Marksman (for obvious reasons), and Speechcraft (rizz). Addressing the not-so-sneaky elephant in the room and taking skills like athletics, acrobatics, and sneak aren’t worth it in Oblivion Remastered. This is because you are constantly levelling these skills passively by moving around, making it far more efficient to allocate the improved skill level speed to skills that aren’t as easy to level.

The best Stealth Archer race is easily the Wood Elf, thanks to their impressive stat spread and innate bonuses to Marksman and Sneak.
