The Parasight (Blacktail) has revealed its next game, and it’s shaping up to be “Doom but make it pirates” in all the best ways. Davy x Jones will cast you as the infamous pirate Davy Jones as he tries to escape The Locker, the pirate underworld, after being betrayed and robbed — oh, and beheaded. In Davy x Jones, the pirate is essentially split into two characters; the headless body Jones must work with the floating skull Davy to enact revenge against their nemesis, Blackbeard.
The reveal trailer offers brief glimpses of the pair’s battles against hellish pirates and a shark monster. Jones will have a pirate’s arsenal at his disposal — a gun, a sword, and a grappling hook — and even Davy’s head can be shot at enemies.
You’ll also take command of Abby, a half ship, half whale who acts as “your base, your artillery, and your ally. Recruit legendary Officers to crew her and unleash devastating abilities like CANNONS in combat,” according to a press release announcing the game. The trailer shows Abby being attacked by a giant-squid-inside-a-giant-skull monster, making us wonder if some sort of ship vs. monster combat will be part of the game.
Davy x Jones doesn’t have a release window yet or confirmed platforms beyond “PC & Consoles.” The Parasight’s previous game, 2022’s Blacktail, put players behind the bow of the Baba Yaga.
