BHVR, the developer of Dead By Daylight, has removed a video from its official channels after viewers observed that it seemingly showed a player using cheats. Originally posted on Thursday March 6, the footage shows a game of DBD from the perspective of a survivor player who is being hunted by an opponent playing as the Hillbilly killer. Though it is possible to achieve sharp turns as the Hillbilly while also simultaneously attacking with his chainsaw, a strategy known as the ‘’Billy Curve,’ the video allegedly shows the Hillbilly player moving in a way that is only achievable through the use of cheats.

One of the strongest of all DBD killers, the Hillbilly’s chainsaw sprint attack is especially dangerous because it can put survivors into a dying state with a single strike. Dead By Daylight experts and Hillbilly veterans will be familiar with the Billy Curve – by tapping the ‘attack’ button over and over to keep the chainsaw almost a full rev and then flicking the mouse at the right time and angle, it is possible to use the sprint to slingshot the Hillbilly around corners, springing a lethal ambush on unwitting survivors. The Billy Curve can be achieved through careful manipulation of DBD’s controls, and unlocking various in-game add-ons for the Hillbilly can make it easier to execute.

BHVR posted a video from a user named ‘ChuggaTacoTrunks’ which shows a survivor in the horror game being pursued by a player using the Hillbilly. The killer circles the survivor, using what appears to be the Curve technique to hem them into a small area. At the very end of the video, the Hillbilly turns acutely towards the survivor player and charges them with the chainsaw. Viewers claim that this is impossible without using cheats – even the Billy Curve strategy does not allow for such precise and sudden changes in direction.

“This Billy is very clearly cheating and they [BHVR] didn’t catch it,” ‘TheGhero69,’ who reposted the Behaviour Interactive’s video, says. “You can’t curve around like that to begin with in such a tight circle but that curve right before he went for him is literally impossible.”

“The moment I saw the full 360 around the loop I was shocked they posted this,” another respondent, ‘VVentamy,’ says. “Everything was funny and I hope posting a cheater clip doesn’t hurt them.”

“I say you can’t really blame players for being unable to tell when someone is cheating because I don’t think BHVR can either,” another viewer writes. “The fact the developer themselves can’t tell when somebody in its game is cheating is kind of telling [of] why there are still so many cheaters in DBD,” a fourth respondent says.

BHVR has since deleted the video from its Twitter feed.
