Diablo 4 Season 15 keeps on surprising, and one of Blizzard’s longest-running secrets finally appears to have paid off in rather surprising fashion. The intrepid clue-hunters at the ‘Not Finding a Cow Level’ Discord have been pursuing what’s been dubbed the ‘Lucky Coin questline’ since the early days of the RPG. The item it’s named for was first spotted all the way back in Season 3, and now we have what looks to be its ultimate conclusion, and another special boss fight. Sit tight, and bring your friends, because you’re going to need them.
Reddit user ‘Echo-Sunray’ finally dropped the full details of this latest quest chain onto the Diablo 4 subreddit just days after a combination of secret-hunting, datamining, and shared community effort was suddenly sparked by one errant post. A user called ‘Morningstarbolt’ shared an image this week asking why an on-screen message had appeared during their game that read ‘EverBonk: 1.’ They were immediately met with a barrage of questions about exactly where they were and what they were doing at the time, and this ultimately led to our latest discovery. Consider this your final spoiler warning.
Echo-Sunray explains the route that must be taken in order to finish the new hidden quest, and unfortunately for solo players it starts with a group activity. A full party must find and kill four specific rare elites across the region of Skartara within just a few seconds of each other (that means one per player). Doing so will cause a new item called the Luckiest Coin to drop for all of them. This can then be taken to a pillow in south Temis, and placed underneath, although it appears that nothing happens as a result.
Wait a total of 24 hours, however, and you can return to find the Amulet of Dark Omens in its place. As if that wasn’t complicated enough, Echo-Sunray reports that the window to pick this up is just two minutes before it disappears again and you’re forced to restart. Once you have this, you can equip the new amulet along with two older secret items: the Ring of Misfortune (from the original Lucky Coin quest) and the Ring of the Jinx (from the Luckier Coin quest).
With all three of these equipped, head to Lorath’s shack in Fractured Peaks, and a portal will open up that takes you to a special area known as the Foyer. There, you’ll be met with a new boss fight against three familiar faces – Echoes of Donan, Neyrelle, and Lorath, the fallen Horadrim from the Diablo 4 story. You’ll earn a special Horadric Coin for defeating them, although Echo-Sunray adds that “you must wear the amulet and two rings throughout the fight if you want any rewards.”
Is this the end? Players have already discovered that the Horadric Coin can be used in the Horadric Cube alongside a pair of Engagement Rings and a Lost Amulet (all of which are junk items found while fishing) to create a pouch that contains the original trio of secret accessories. With no new items on the table for now, it seems as though this journey has reached its conclusion. At this point, however, nothing would surprise me.
