Elden Ring Nightreign’s update boosts madness weapon drops, making Libra easier

A successful run in Elden Ring Nightreign requires prep work. You’ve got to level up and collect gear that pinpoints a Nightlord’s weakness, a process that’s straightforward unless you’re on an expedition for Libra. Madness weapons are fairly rare; if a camp for the affinity shows up, there’s a good chance you’ll walk away with nothing but a banquet of yellow boluses. That’s helpful for surviving Libra’s attacks, but hardly everything you need to take him on. With Wednesday’s patch, drop rates for madness should be better, which is bad news for the goat deity.

Libra is a madness boss, but he’s also weak to madness attacks. Based on achievement statistics on platforms like Steam, Libra is one of the hardest Nightlords to beat. Part of the reason is undoubtedly that players often go into the battle with Libra with zero madness weapons. Gear that protects you against madness is also uncommon in Nightreign.

In short, we’ve all been fighting Libra on hard mode until now. I’ve been stuck on this fight for maybe 20 hours, and I’ve only wielded a madness weapon or attack a handful of times within that time period. At least one of those times, it was only because Libra offered the powers of a demon in his deal at the start of the fight. I’ve never even witnessed Libra succumb to frenzy, which apparently makes him stop using his powerful weapons altogether. Now, if only I could get my teammates to stop immediately attacking him when I’m midway through considering a deal with the devil…

The update is otherwise fairly routine, with a number of bug fixes meant to smooth out gameplay. Notably, the patch gets rid of the issue where the game will say you’re defeated if all three of your teammates are down but one is midway through their revival animation, which is a glitch that may or may not have provoked a few screams on my end. Nothing like nearly killing a Nightlord and then unjustly being told you lost!
