Everton line-up for Man Utd confirmed as Coleman returns and midfielder dropped

Club captain Seamus Coleman will start his first Premier League game this season as Everton face Manchester United.

The right back is set to start for David Moyes after an impressive international break in which the 37-year-old played twice as the Republic of Ireland overcame Portugal and Hungary to reach the play-offs for next year’s World Cup.

It will be his first time in the first XI in the league this campaign, his only starts having been in Everton’s Carabao Cup games against Mansfield Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Coleman is the only change for Everton from the side that started the league win over Fulham before the international break. It is a move that causes tweaks elsewhere, however, as he replaces centre midfielder Tim Iroegbunam. James Garner, who started the last game at right back, will return to his favoured position alongside Idrissa Gueye in the middle.

That means Thierno Barry, who left the pitch at Hill Dickinson Stadium to a raucous applause after a positive run-out against Fulham, will keep his place ahead of Beto.

While the 23-year-old did not get the first Everton goal he, the club and fanbase craves, his wider display was widely perceived as having the potential to have been a breakthrough performance – particularly given it came just days after he left the pitch in frustration after missing a golden chance and then getting booked at Sunderland.

Starting XI: Pickford; Mykolenko, Keane, Tarkowski, Coleman; Gueye, Garner; Grealish, Dewsbury-Hall, Ndiaye; Barry
