Explore the Commonwealth, Far Harbor, and Nuka World
After leaving Vault 111, as the Sole Survivor, your goal is to explore the Fallout 4 map, where dangerous mutated creatures and questionable individuals are only two examples of what makes this wasteland known as the Commonwealth an interesting place.
Exploring and surviving in the Commonwealth requires more than just guts from you. The safest route is to focus on the main quests — you can see where all of them are located in our interactive Fallout 4 map below. They will force you to prepare yourself for each mission by crafting items using the workbenches or finding companions to give you a hand.
Once you’re ready to go beyond the safe line created by the campaign, you can venture into some dungeons or search for other settlements to unlock, havens you create to rest after running from certain death. But deadly creatures and unspoken secrets aren’t the only things you find by exploring the hidden places in Commonwealth. There are a multitude of collectibles to search for, from bobbleheads and magazines to holotapes.
At first glance, exploring the game might seem daunting, but you just need to take your time. In order to prepare your next step, you can always check our Fallout 4 interactive map and see where your next goal is located. This map is a work in progress, and we will continue to update it with more key locations and details to help you enjoy your time in the Commonwealth, as well as the DLC locations, Far Harbor and Nuka World.
