The GTA 6 launch date has been confirmed by Rockstar, but unfortunately, the game will not arrive in 2025 as was originally expected. The studio behind Grand Theft Auto 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, and GTA Online previously said that the Vice City-set sequel would come in 2025, but now confirms that the game will in fact be released in 2026. Seems like we have longer to enjoy the world of Los Santos before departing for the sunny shores of Leonida.
The Grand Theft Auto 6 release date has been delayed. Featuring, apparently, two protagonists, one of whom is Lucia, as seen in the first trailer, the open-world game sequel completes the loose trilogy that began in 2008 with GTA 4. However, while we were all hoping to play Grand Theft Auto 6 before the end of this year, Rockstar has just this moment dashed our hopes by announcing a long delay.
The Grand Theft Auto 6 release date is now confirmed for Tuesday May 26, 2026.
“We are very sorry that this is later than expected,” Rockstar says. “The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto 6 is no exception.
“We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”
