Himachal’s high altitudes bracing for snow, rain this weekend

Shimla: The weather department has predicted light snow and rain in isolated places of the higher reaches of the state on Saturday and Sunday.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, there is a likelihood of light rain and snow at a few places in the high hills of the state on Jan 11 and in isolated areas on Jan 12. The weather will remain dry thereafter for the rest of the next week.
The weather department has also predicted dense fog during the morning and evening hours in the coming days in Bilaspur and Mandi districts of the state.
Meanwhile, no large change was observed in the minimum and maximum temperatures in the state on Friday. According to the weather department, the minimum temperature was recorded near normal in most of the weather stations across the state, and the maximum temperature was above normal by 2-3°C.
Tabo in Lahaul Spiti was the coldest place in Himachal Pradesh on Friday, with the lowest minimum temperature of -11.7°C. Other places in the state that recorded temperatures below 0 degrees included Kukumseri (-10.2°C), Samdo (-7.6°C), Kalpa (-1.6°C), and Bhuntar (-0.6°C).
Among the tourist destinations, Manali recorded a minimum temperature of 0.2°C, Shimla 6.8°C, Dharamshala 6°C, Dalhousie 5.7°C, and Kufri 5.3°C.
