The Whitefield Division Police have formed special teams to track down the accused who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in Marathahalli. The only clue available is that the miscreant was wearing a purple T-shirt, sources said. Police are analysing footage from multiple CCTV cameras in and around the area to identify and track down the accused.

While the victim was walking near the entrance of a techpark in Marathahalli at 11.40 p.m. on April 30, a miscreant on a bike approached her from behind, sexually assaulted her and sped away. The accused, who had gone ahead a short distance, took a U-turn, returned, assaulted her again and fled the scene, a source said.

The woman later lodged a complaint with the Marathahalli police, based on which a case was booked against the unidentified miscreant under Sections 74 (assault against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) and 78 (stalking) of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.

Similar case

It may be recalled that a miscreant similarly sexually assaulted a woman walking home in a narrow bylane of BTM Layout on the night of April 3, which had gone viral, causing much outrage. Analysing footage from over 300 CCTV cameras and working on technical evidence, the Suddaguntepalya police arrested a cab driver named Santosh Daniel from Kerala to where he had fled following the case, 10 days later.
