You no longer need a JEE rank to study at IIT Madras, at least in certain onlien courses. The institute has opened admissions for its online BS programmes in Data Science and Applications and Electronic Systems, offering students and working professionals a flexible way to earn an IIT degree.
The best part? No entrance exam stress. Anyone who has cleared Class 12 can apply — no age bar, no seat limit. If you haven’t cleared JEE, all you need to do is finish a 4-week online prep module and pass a qualifier test (held offline).
Applications are open till May 20, 2025 on study.iitm.ac.in.

BASIC ELIGIBILITY AND COURSE STRUCTURE
For Data Science, you just need to have studied Class 10-level Maths and English. For Electronic Systems, you’ll need Physics and Maths at the Class 12 level.
PG DIPLOMA OPTIONS ALSO OPEN
IIT Madras has also opened applications for PG diploma programmes in areas like AI, Aerospace, E-Mobility, Mechanical Design, Microelectronics and more.
The entrance exam is on July 13, and classes begin August-September 2025.
