Mumbai is buzzing as the first World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) Summit 2025 takes place at the Jio World Convention Centre, drawing all the big names in content creation including a visit from Instagram CEO himself Adam Mosseri. While his trip to India has included some spontaneous dance numbers and interactions with Bollywood stars and the city’s top content creators, he’s also made time to sample some local fare.
The media was thrilled to capture Mosseri with Bollywood’s ‘it’ couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Brar as they emerged from Papa’s in Bandra. The 12-seater chef’s counter experience is a nod to Chef Hussain’s adventurous interpretation of Indian cuisine, drawing on native flavours and ingredients while incorporating a sense of playfulness in every dish and cocktail on the curated tasting menu. In a post, he adds, “I got to meet the amazing and charismatic power couple that is @deepikapadukone and @ranveersingh this evening in Mumbai, and enjoy some unreal food at @papasbombay.”
While he definitely got a taste of Mumbai’s fine-dining soul, it was actress Shraddha Kapoor he got a taste of home as well. During one of the sessions at the event, hosted by Shraddha Kapoor, the actress shared a heartfelt moment with Mosseri by surprising him with a homemade Puran Poli, a traditional Maharashtrian sweet flatbread made with jaggery and lentils. As she handed it to him, she remarked, “I know you’ve been exploring Indian cuisine at fancy places, but I want you to try something close to home. This is Puran Poli, a Maharashtrian dessert prepared in my family kitchen.” Her gesture brought a touch of home and authenticity to the exchange, offering a personal glimpse into regional Indian flavours.
He wasn’t short on sweet treats during his trip, as later he was also invited to sample some filter coffee ice cream at a stall by Indu Ice Cream at the event. Known for combining unique Indian ingredients into smooth, silky ice cream’s Indu Ice Cream has become a quick star in the city’s artisanal ice cream space. Owner Saloni Kukreja posted about their meeting saying “So grateful to have served so many incredible people yesterday!! Thank you for the warmth, conversations, and all the love for our Filter Kaapi icecream!”. They also mention that coffee ice cream is his favourite, perfect for this Indian twist with the intense flavours of south Indian filter coffee.
While he may not be in the city long enough to sample the wide selection of local food, it’s clear that Adam Mosseri’s stay in Mumbai definitely had some foodie adventures.
