If your sidequests dry up after this one, it might be time to get back on the main Monster Hunter Wilds quest path. And if you’re nabbing little beasties because you’re struggling against a particular bigger baddie, check out the best Monster Hunter Wilds armor and Monster Hunter Wilds weapons that make up powerful Monster Hunter Wilds builds instead.
Where is the Ember Rufflizard location in Monster Hunter Wilds?
You’ll find the Ember Rufflizard in Area 15 of the Oilwell Basin. Cast your mind back to when you tracked down The Black Flame: you’re likely to have passed one or two Ember Rufflizard on that fiery path.
You might also remember just how difficult it was to get down there. Luckily, with the path now discovered, you can easily command your Seikret to take you straight there.
Just open the main to the Oilwell Basin, flick to the bottom floor, and set a waymark for Area 15. Hop on your Seikret to have it ferry you there faster than you can put down a Rompopolo.
In Area 15, you’re looking for a dark lizard against the dim volcanic floor. They have a soft lava-like glow to the cracks in their scaly hides. They can sometimes flare their necks like the real-life Frilled Lizard, so look out for that particular appearance, too.
If you wind up by a ledge, you should spot three or four Ember Rufflizard directly below in a small group. We spotted another left of that location during the Fallow Nighttime.
To catch the Ember Rufflizard, just equip the Capture Net from your item bar, aim, and fire away.
What is the Ember Rufflizard for in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Beyond being another log in the Endemic Life book to collect, the Ember Rufflizard is requested by Dareel as part of the ‘Dareel’s Research Report’ questline.
It’s the second species he’ll ask for (after the Tracktail Lizard) when you speak to him at the Windward Plains base camp after rolling the story credits and entering High Rank and Chapter 4.
Completing the quest awards five Honey and ten Might Seeds. Check back with him a little later in the story to be sent on a quest to find the Gillopod. At the same time, Sameel (at the same camp) will ask that you capture the fleet-footed Sandstar as part of a friendly competition.
