Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the Mahaumbh at Prayagraj on February 5, where he will take part in the Shahi Snan (royal bath) at the Triveni Sangam, news agency ANI reported citing sources. Preparations for his visit are already underway, with PM Modi choosing this spiritually significant date for his holy dip. Notably, February 5 also coincides with the voting day for the Delhi Elections 2025.
On the same day, Home Minister Amit Shah participated in the holy dip at the Mahakumbh 2025. As per media reports, PM Modi will not only take a dip in the sacred Ganga but will also perform the aarti of the river and offer prayers. He is expected to visit key spiritual sites in Prayagraj, including Akshayvat, Saraswati Koop, and the Bade Hanuman Mandir.
The Mahakumbh, held once every 12 years, has already seen a massive influx of devotees since its commencement on January 13, with over 110 million people taking a holy dip in the first 14 days. The event will run until February 26, drawing millions of pilgrims to Prayagraj.

Significance of February 5 – Magh Ashtami
February 5 holds special spiritual significance, coinciding with Magh Ashtami, an important day in the Hindu calendar marked by devotion, charity, and spiritual practices. It falls on the eighth day of the sacred Magh month, during the period of Gupt Navratri, a time traditionally associated with intense spiritual practices. On this day, devotees believe it is particularly auspicious to meditate, engage in charity, and take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam.
Moreover, February 5 also marks Bhishma Ashtami, a day rooted in the Mahabharata. On this day, Bhishma Pitamah, who lay on a bed of arrows, waited for the sun’s transition into Uttarayan (the northward movement) and Shukla Paksha (the waxing moon) before leaving his mortal body. With Lord Krishna by his side, Bhishma attained moksha on the eighth day of the Magh month, making February 5 a day of profound spiritual reverence, honoring his devotion and dedication.
