After recent hints about a new AMD budget gaming GPU, a new specs rumor for the as-yet unannounced AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT have been making the rounds. According to the rumor, the new GPU is likely to come with two different VRAM options and a clock speed that boosts up to 3.3GHz on certain overclockable cards, and it could be ready for launch in just over a month’s time.

There’s a huge space for AMD to further make inroads into the gaming GPU market with a budget cards based on its RX 9060 series. The company has already seen its best GPU launch in years with the RX 9070 XT, which tops our best graphics card shortlist as the best option for the average gamer. The chipmaker will be looking for similar success at the lower end of the market, too, if it can get the specs and pricing right to match Nvidia’s recently unveiled RTX 5060 Ti.

While AMD hasn’t officially announced this specific card – only the RX 9060 series has been hinted at – further details about its potential have been shared in a report by Videocardz. Matching earlier RX 9060 XT spec rumors, along with the RX 9060 XT government listings we spotted last month, Videocardz’s sources suggest that the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT will ship in 8GB and 16GB VRAM variations, with both variants using GDDR6 memory chips. That’s the same amount of VRAM Nvidia is strapping to its RTX 5060 Ti options, though it’s using faster GDDR7 memory.

It’s also expected that the RX 9060 XT will ship with 2,048 Stream Processors, 1,536 fewer than the recently-launched AMD Radeon RX 9070, which we tested in our recent RX 9070 review. Videocardz also reports that it will have a base clock speed of 2.62GHz, boosted up to 3.23GHz, maxing out to 3.3GHz on overclockable cards.

It’s unclear what the power consumption for the RX 9060 XT is set to be, but a 500W power supply is reportedly expected to be the minimum requirement, with some cards requiring a 550W PSU. Given the RX 9070’s TBP is 220W, it’s likely to be lower than that value.

No other information is available so far, but Videocardz reports that AMD board partners “expect a formal product showcase” at the Computex 2025 trade show in Taipei next month. We’ll be looking forward to seeing what AMD is cooking up here, especially with the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti both launching over the next few weeks.

Until then, check out our AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT review to see why AMD’s top GPU is currently our top recommendation for a graphics card for most gamers.
