Police announce traffic regulations in Madurai for Chithirai festival

Madurai: Madurai district police announced traffic regulations in view of Lord Kallalagar leaving Alagarkoil on Saturday to participate in the Chithirai festival. According to a statement from the district police, all vehicles bound for Melur from Madurai city taking Alagarkovil Road should, instead, take Kallanthiri, Lakshmipuram, Mankulam, and Kidaripatti.Likewise, all vehicles bound for Madurai from Melur should take a deviation at Marakayarpuram junction and come through Marakayarpuram and Nayakkanpatti.Police announced temporary parking arrangements for vehicles coming for the event on May 10. Vehicles coming to Alagarkovil via Kadachanenthal and Appan Tirupathi can park in the following places. Two-wheelers can park at Ambuvidum Mandapam, four-wheelers at Kerala Neet Academy and Balaji Avenue, and M Chathirapatti junction, while small commercial vehicles can park at Mangaithottam. Balaji Avenue would act as a temporary bus station for corporation buses.Vehicles coming from Alagarkovil via Melur can park at the following venues. Two-wheelers can be parked at Prakash Iyer Garden and Amman Mahal. Four-wheelers can park at Aishwarya Garden and Muthulakshmi Rice Mill, while the second entrance at the fort would act as the temporary bus station for corporation buses.Private and corporation buses coming to Alagarkovil can be operated till Alagarkovil campus until 1pm on May 10. No heavy vehicles would be allowed towards Alagarkovil via Kadachanenthal, Kidaripatti, and Seegupatti junction.
