Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has initiated legal proceedings against fellow co-directors Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia, contesting the legitimacy of an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on April 21 in a Chandigarh court, as per a report by TOI.

The contention arises from alleged procedural violations during the meeting, particularly regarding the appointment of a new director for KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, the entity that owns the IPL team Punjab Kings.

Zinta claims that the EGM did not adhere to the necessary protocols established by the Companies Act, 2013, and other relevant secretarial regulations. She had previously raised concerns about the meeting in an email dated April 10, but asserts that her objections were disregarded, according to the report.

Despite voicing her dissent during the meeting, where she was accompanied by director Karan Paul, both Zinta and Paul opposed the nomination of Muneesh Khanna as a new director. Nevertheless, Burman, with Wadia’s backing, continued with the proceedings.

In her legal filing, Zinta has sought a court declaration nullifying the meeting and preventing Khanna from assuming directorial responsibilities. She has also requested a halt to the execution of any decisions made during the meeting. Additionally, the lawsuit aims to restrict the company from conducting any board or general meetings without the presence of both Zinta and Karan Paul, as well as the exclusion of Muneesh Khanna, until the case is resolved.Zinta’s Punjab Kings during the IPL 2025 season has demonstrated remarkable performance.
