Recap 2024: Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan To Ranbir Kapoor, Bollywood Stars We Missed On Big Screen
This year was a mixed bag at the box office. Small and mid-scale films rose to shine whereas some of the biggest titles failed to ignite fire. New stars emerged, marking the beginning of a contemporary wave of Indian cinema.
Despite the new wave, changing box office patterns, and dynamics, the Hindi film industry did miss its OG superstars. The three Khans of Bollywood – Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan – had no releases in 2024.
2024 comes to an end. As we wrap the year, let’s look back and find out which superstar remained absent from the big screen.
Shah Rukh Khan
After three back-to-back films in his comeback year (2023), Shah Rukh had no releases in 2024. He is currently preparing to take King on floors with his daughter Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma. Siddharth Anand, who directed Shah Rukh’s comeback film, Pathaan, has reportedly taken over the project. He is directing and co-producing the action spectacle. As per reports, King will release in 2026.
Salman Khan
Bollywood’s Bhaijaan, Salman Khan, had cameos in Singham Again and Baby John this year. His fans will have to wait till Eid 2025 to watch him in the lead role. Salman’s upcoming film is Sikandar with Rashmika Mandanna. The Sajid Nadiadwala-produced film releases on Eid 2025.
Aamir Khan
It’s been two years since Aamir Khan had no releases. The unexpected failure of Laal Singh Chaddha prompted him to take an indefinite break. In 2025, Aamir will end his hiatus with Sitare Zameen Par. Aamir is also producing Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta-starrer Lahore 1947.
Ayushmann Khurrana
Ayushmann Khurrana remained missing from the big screen this year. As per reports, the actor has been reading multiple scripts. He joins the Maddock Supernatural Universe with Thama in 2025. Rashmika Mandanna is his co-star. Reportedly, Sooraj Barjatya has locked him as the new Prem in his upcoming film.
Ranbir Kapoor
Ranbir Kapoor had no films in 2024 because he’s gearing up for the two biggest releases of 2026. The actor is working on the Ramayana franchise as well as Love And War. The first part of the mythological magnum opus releases in Diwali 2026 and the sequel hits silver screen in 2027. Love And War by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is scheduled to release on March 20, 2026.
