GTA 6 on PC could be a lot closer than you think. While Rockstar Games is keeping its cards close to its chest ahead of the blockbuster’s November PS5 and Xbox launch, a new report claims the PC version won’t be too far behind. If accurate, that would be a considerably shorter wait than what players endured for GTA 5.

According to GamesBeat, four industry sources familiar with Rockstar’s plans claim GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on PC during the first quarter of 2027. Each source has requested anonymity to protect their business relationships, and Rockstar naturally didn’t respond to GameBeat’s request for comment before publication.

The current GTA 6 release date on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is just weeks away. Yeah, we can finally say it’s happening. So just how far behind will a GTA 6 PC port be? If Rockstar is targeting early 2027, the financial year refresh in March/April could be the sweet spot. That’s considerably shorter than the roughly 19 months between GTA 5’s September 2013 console launch and its April 2015 PC debut.

There’s plenty of reason for Rockstar to bring GTA 6 to PC sooner rather than later, aside from the buckets of cash it’ll make. Rockstar has already signaled its interest in user-generated content creation tools, and its 2023 acquisition of Cfx.re, the team behind the GTA 5 roleplaying framework FiveM, suggests community-driven experiences matter as much as ever to Rockstar.

If you’ve spent any time watching GTA roleplay streams, you’ll know just how much life these experiences can inject into Los Santos. From UK police forces with complete asset reskins to acting out mundane jobs, there’s not much else quite like it. I’m personally a big fan of Red Dead Redemption 2’s RP community, at least as an observer. It’s chaos.

There’s another piece of the puzzle, too. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy blurted to Bloomberg in September that GTA 6’s online component would arrive “next year.” Again, Rockstar hasn’t announced an official launch date for GTA 6 Online. It remains arguably the biggest question of what to expect from the long-awaited title. All of this comes days after Xbox tried to shut down the idea of a GTA 6 PC port.

Conversely, hype surrounding a GTA 6 Switch 2 port has been noted by Nintendo, but it is leaving the big decisions to Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive.

As we know, Rockstar isn’t afraid to delay a game when it needs more polish. GTA 6 has already shifted from its original 2025 window to May 2026, before moving again to November 19. Let’s hope GTA 6 Online doesn’t meet a similar fate, if it even exists.
