Saturday RiskKOCO 5 Meteorologist Joseph Neubauer says a warm front is moving in from the south, kicking off storms in southern Oklahoma. Rain and storms are possible in central and northern Oklahoma during the afternoon and evening, but the majority of the storms are expected to stay down south. According to Joseph, there may be six or seven storms on the radar on Saturday, but they come with a severe weather threat. A level 2 slight risk has been issued for much of Oklahoma. Areas included in the risk zone are Lawton, the OKC metro, Seminole, Woodward, Alva, Enid, Stillwater, Ponca City, Tulsa and Bartlesville. There’s also a level 1 marginal risk in western Oklahoma near Altus, Hobart and Clinton as well as west of Woodward in the Panhandle. Joseph says a level 3 enhanced risk was issued for far southern Oklahoma closer to the Red River near Ardmore and Durant. The severe weather could produce intense thunderstorms, large hail, damaging 60-70 mph wind gusts and tornadoes during the afternoon and evening. The risk will not continue into the overnight hours. Baseball-sized hail is possible in southern and southwestern Oklahoma near Clinton, Hobart, Altus, Lawton, Ardmore and Durant. Much of the rest of the state, including the OKC metro, could get golf ball-sized hail. The hail risk is very isolated, but storms with hail could produce large stones. The tornado index for the majority of Oklahoma is 2 out of 10. The index increases to 4-5 near Durant. Predictor shows that storms could start as early as 2 p.m. and pick up in southern and western Oklahoma by 4 p.m. The storms will move northeast heading into the evening, reaching part of the OKC metro by 6 p.m., and the window for severe storms in the area is 5-8 p.m.Storms will then continue into northern and northeastern Oklahoma near Enid, Stillwater, Ponca City, Perry and Tulsa by 8 p.m. Joseph says they’ll move out around 10 p.m. to midnight. Sunday RiskJoseph says we can expect much of the same on Sunday, except the dryline will be more pronounced across the Panhandle and in western Oklahoma. An enhanced risk has been issued for north-central Oklahoma near Enid, Alva, Ponca City and Bartlesville. Almost the entirety of the rest of the state, minus the Panhandle, will be under a slight risk. Baseball-sized hail is possible for areas in the enhanced risk, and golf ball-sized stones could fall throughout Oklahoma. The tornado index also will be higher on Sunday, being 6 near Alva, Enid, Ponca City and Bartlesville. The index is 4-5 for the OKC metro as well as near Lawton, Hobart, Clinton, Ardmore, Ada, Durant, Seminole, Stillwater, Tulsa and McAlester. Joseph says there’s a higher chance of rain on Sunday, meaning there’s more exposure to severe storms. Predictor shows storms coming in from the south around 11:30 a.m., and there will probably be cells to track by around 1 p.m. Joseph says storms will be really busy during the early afternoon, moving into northern Oklahoma by 3 p.m.Joseph says we may be storm-free by Sunday evening, with some rain remaining in northern and southern Oklahoma. Monday Risk Monday is probably the peak of Oklahoma’s severe weather threat during this three-day stretch. An enhanced risk has been issued for central to eastern Oklahoma and includes the OKC metro, Enid, Ardmore, Stillwater, Ponca City, Seminole, Ada, Durant, McAlester, Tulsa and Bartlesville. The tornado index for the enhanced risk zone is 6 out of 10. Predictor shows storms firing in the OKC metro by 4 p.m., bringing a threat of hail, rotating storms and a tornado risk. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for northwestern Garvin County, southeastern Grady County and southwestern McClain County until 5:15 p.m.
Areas that could be impacted include Lindsay, Alex, Bradley, Erin Springs, and Payne.

4:30 p.m. Saturday Update:
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northeastern Grady County, northwestern Cleveland County, southeastern Canadian County and northwestern McClain County.
The main threats with storms are quarter sized hail.
Areas that could be impacted include southwestern Oklahoma City, Chickasha, Newcastle, Blanchard, Mustang, Tuttle, Alex, Amber, Bridge Creek, Middleberg, Tabler, and Ninnekah.
The warning is set to expire at 5 p.m.
3:55 p.m. Saturday Update:
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northwestern Garvin County, southern Grady County and southwestern McClain County.
The main threats with the storms are 60 mph wind gusts and quarter sized hail.
Areas that could be impacted include Lindsay, Rush Springs, Dibble, Alex, Bradley, Agawam, Criner, Middleberg, Tabler, Ninnekah, Acme, Payne, and Erin Springs.
The warning is set to expire at 4:30 p.m.
2:50 p.m. Saturday Update:
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for much of Oklahoma on Saturday, set to expire at 10 p.m.
Included in the watch are Atoka, Beckham, Blaine, Bryan, Caddo, Canadian, Carter, Choctaw, Cleveland, Coal, Comanche, Cotton, Custer, Dewey, Ellis, Garvin, Grady, Greer, Harmon, Hughes, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnston, Kingfisher, Kiowa, Latimer, Lincoln, Logan, Love, Marshall, McClain, Murray, Okfuskee, Oklahoma, Pittsburg, Pontotoc, Pottawatomie, Pushmataha, Roger Mills, Seminole, Stephens, Tillman and Washita counties.
Below is a look at the severe weather threat that’s heading into Oklahoma over the next three days.
Saturday Risk
KOCO 5 Meteorologist Joseph Neubauer says a warm front is moving in from the south, kicking off storms in southern Oklahoma. Rain and storms are possible in central and northern Oklahoma during the afternoon and evening, but the majority of the storms are expected to stay down south.
According to Joseph, there may be six or seven storms on the radar on Saturday, but they come with a severe weather threat.

A level 2 slight risk has been issued for much of Oklahoma. Areas included in the risk zone are Lawton, the OKC metro, Seminole, Woodward, Alva, Enid, Stillwater, Ponca City, Tulsa and Bartlesville. There’s also a level 1 marginal risk in western Oklahoma near Altus, Hobart and Clinton as well as west of Woodward in the Panhandle.
Joseph says a level 3 enhanced risk was issued for far southern Oklahoma closer to the Red River near Ardmore and Durant.
The severe weather could produce intense thunderstorms, large hail, damaging 60-70 mph wind gusts and tornadoes during the afternoon and evening. The risk will not continue into the overnight hours.
Baseball-sized hail is possible in southern and southwestern Oklahoma near Clinton, Hobart, Altus, Lawton, Ardmore and Durant. Much of the rest of the state, including the OKC metro, could get golf ball-sized hail.
The hail risk is very isolated, but storms with hail could produce large stones.

Joseph says Saturday is not a classic tornado day when looking at the wind profiles. The tornado index for the majority of Oklahoma is 2 out of 10. The index increases to 4-5 near Durant.
Predictor shows that storms could start as early as 2 p.m. and pick up in southern and western Oklahoma by 4 p.m. The storms will move northeast heading into the evening, reaching part of the OKC metro by 6 p.m., and the window for severe storms in the area is 5-8 p.m.
Storms will then continue into northern and northeastern Oklahoma near Enid, Stillwater, Ponca City, Perry and Tulsa by 8 p.m. Joseph says they’ll move out around 10 p.m. to midnight.
Sunday Risk
Joseph says we can expect much of the same on Sunday, except the dryline will be more pronounced across the Panhandle and in western Oklahoma.
An enhanced risk has been issued for north-central Oklahoma near Enid, Alva, Ponca City and Bartlesville. Almost the entirety of the rest of the state, minus the Panhandle, will be under a slight risk.
Baseball-sized hail is possible for areas in the enhanced risk, and golf ball-sized stones could fall throughout Oklahoma.
The tornado index also will be higher on Sunday, being 6 near Alva, Enid, Ponca City and Bartlesville. The index is 4-5 for the OKC metro as well as near Lawton, Hobart, Clinton, Ardmore, Ada, Durant, Seminole, Stillwater, Tulsa and McAlester.
Joseph says there’s a higher chance of rain on Sunday, meaning there’s more exposure to severe storms.
Predictor shows storms coming in from the south around 11:30 a.m., and there will probably be cells to track by around 1 p.m. Joseph says storms will be really busy during the early afternoon, moving into northern Oklahoma by 3 p.m.
Joseph says we may be storm-free by Sunday evening, with some rain remaining in northern and southern Oklahoma.
Monday Risk
Monday is probably the peak of Oklahoma’s severe weather threat during this three-day stretch.
An enhanced risk has been issued for central to eastern Oklahoma and includes the OKC metro, Enid, Ardmore, Stillwater, Ponca City, Seminole, Ada, Durant, McAlester, Tulsa and Bartlesville. The tornado index for the enhanced risk zone is 6 out of 10.
There’s also a slight risk for west-central Oklahoma ranging from Alva to Lawton.

Joseph says storms are expected to develop during the late afternoon and during the evening commute. Monday is probably our best bet to see tornadoes.
Predictor shows storms firing in the OKC metro by 4 p.m., bringing a threat of hail, rotating storms and a tornado risk. They’ll continue into Shawnee, Stillwater and into northeastern Oklahoma by 6:30 p.m.
Joseph says we may see a cold front in the evening that may kick off a few more storms as we push into the later evening hours, around 11 p.m.
