Surreal skateboarding sim Skate Story – in which you play as a demon in an Underworld made of “glass and pain” who has been tasked with skating to the moon and swallowing it – will arrive in a little over two weeks time, on 8th December.

Along with Steam and Nintendo Switch, the upcoming title will also be a day-one Game Catalog release for PlayStation Plus subscribers, Sony announced earlier this week. The Game Catalog titles are available via the service’s Extra and Premium memberships.

Skate Story is the next game from Zarvot developer Sam Eng, with Devolver Digital on publishing duties. It will retail for £18.

“Ollie, kickflip, and grind your way through the ash and smoke of the Underworld as you take on a seemingly impossible quest. Skate fast to destroy demons and save other tortured souls on your journey from fragile beginner to a hardened skater,” reads the official Skate Story blurb on Steam.

The game was initially announced several years ago, but has faced its share of delays since then. But, those days are behind us now, and Skate Story’s release is tantalisingly close. I do rather like the look of this one, I have to say.

Here’s a trailer for Skate Story, to whet your appetite. Watch on YouTube

If this also sounds like your thing, you can try your hand at Skate Story via a demo on Steam right now. Or, for more on Sony’s subscription service, you check out our full PS Plus guide detailing all of the games available.
