A joint security operation in the Tangmarg area of Kulgam Security forces have reportedly busted a terrorist hideout in Jammu-Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Reportedly, it’s the same place where an exchange of fire took place yesterday.

Images of video clips of the scene started circulating online a day after the a fierce encounter broke out in the area between security forces and terrorists.

Visual released so far capture a messy scene in the Tangmarg area, presumably after security forces ransacked the place. The joint operation was reportedly carried by the Indian Army alongside Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF. More scenes turned the attention to how the presumed terrorists were sustaining themselves. Gas cylinders, beddings, suitcases, water, utensils, a cooker half-filled with chicken biryani and spilt raw rice were seen during the terrorist hideout bust among other things.

These shots emerging amid the ongoing Pahalgam terror attack have further struck fear in citizens about locals in Kashmir possibly colluding with the terrorists and supplying them with the essentials. According to an Indian Express report dated April 24, at least five terrorists are suspected to have been behind the shootings in Pahalgam on Tuesday. Of these five, three are believed to have been from Pakistan. In addition to the alleged ties to Jaish-e-Mohammed, two of these attackers are also suspected to be locals from Bijbehara and Thokerpora, Kulgam.

The images released by the security forces clearly indicate that the terrorists may have been hiding there for quite some time and recced the location before the attack on tourists. There are also indications that they may have got help from locals in Kulgam to accommodate their food and other needs.

In a significant crackdown on India based terrorists who have been linked to the Pahalgam attack security forces blew up houses that allegedly belong to two local terrorists, involved in the Pahalgam terror attack, a TOI report said. The houses were of Adil Thokkar and Asif Shaikh, the terrorists suspected of being involved in the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam. Reports suggest that while the residence of Thokkar was blown up using IEDs, the house of Sheikh was demolished with a bulldozer.
