The Wolf Among Us 2 is the Telltale game I’ve been waiting for. I’ve enjoyed quite a few of the studio’s numerous adventure games over the years. While my affinity was more for the puzzle-heavy days that brought us Tales of Monkey Island and Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse, there’s unquestionably plenty to love in the modern era of difficult choices and character-driven narratives. The Wolf Among Us was unquestionably the one of those that hit hardest for me, and as its sequel looms at last, co-publisher PM Studios teases that there might be more on the table for the partnership.

Alongside my own enthusiasm, there’s long been plenty of support calling for The Wolf Among Us 2. After years of studio struggles, including the shutdown and subsequent rebuilding of Telltale Games itself, the dark fairytale adventures of Bigby Wolf inspired by Bill Willingham’s Fables feel within touching distance once more. Helping it to get across the finish line is publisher PM Studios, and Tom caught up with its CEO Michael Yum to talk about that process.

Yum told the Telltale team to “let me worry about the money, so you don’t have to worry about that anymore,” and he says that he’s been very happy with the progress of development so far. On the Telltale side, Design Director Jessica Hara Campbell described working on the return of Bigby as “like coming home.” What does that mean for the future?

“I think we’ve both enjoyed our experience with them, and they with us, and so we’ve talked about future partnerships,” Yum tells us. “I’m really happy to say that I think there will be more, and I’ve discussed new stuff, and I’ve told them what I would like to see, and we’re kind of all aligned.” That doesn’t necessarily indicate it’ll be TWAU-related, but it does appear as though the team-up could be bearing more fruit in time.

“I think a few things can happen there, and we just have to wait for everybody else to see,” he continues. “I think everybody will feel really happy with what’s going to come.” That sounds promising to me, and it seems as though things are going smoothly with Wolf 2 so far. All being well, we can hopefully look forward to even more games from Telltale before too long.
