Wardogs is the talk of the town right now, at least when it comes to modern-military multiplayer games. Bulkhead’s newcomer has dethroned the likes of Battlefield 6 and Arc Raiders, at least for the time being, and currently boasts hundreds of thousands of players at any one time on Steam. While Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer isn’t convinced that momentum will last, he’s already teasing plans for Wardogs Season 2, which he’s already been testing ahead of its planned release in just a few weeks.
“I got to play the Season 2 build today, I wish we could get it out faster, but the reality is that time exists,” Brammer writes via X. He thanks the Wardogs community for “all the feedback and more importantly data,” saying the team at Bulkhead has already “learned so much in just a week.” Brammer confirms the plan is for Season 2 to release “about a month after launch, so three weeks away-ish,” and adds, “Season 2 and 3 look sick… stuff we had to cut to hit early access now coming to fruition is awesome.”
After the initial weekend high (a slight blip on launch day notwithstanding), Brammer notes that we’re now “entering the first phase of Wardogs’ perfectly acceptable decline where people start to find issues with the balancing, or just disagree with design decisions.” He has called on players to send in their feedback, in particular focusing on the single biggest issue you’d want to change midway through Season 1. “We’re in charge here, we’re the ones with the vision,” he remarks, “however, you have a voice.”

Brammer says we can expect “lots of new content and changes” when Season 2 arrives, although it’s worth keeping in mind that Bulkhead has previously stated it won’t be expanding dramatically on the maps, vehicles, and weapon types during early access. Among his responses to player suggestions, however, Brammer confirms Bulkhead is “not happy with the state of vehicles” in the current build.
He also acknowledges that Wardogs “definitely” has balancing issues between the three teams. “It’s green team who wins most of the time, green and red are fairly even, and that’s been the same way since pre-alpha. But blue getting destroyed is definitely a problem for mixed reasons.” He agrees with one user who suggests the map layout pushes blue into a disadvantage due to their closest towers being on lower ground, but says Bulkhead isn’t considering temporary solutions like randomizing team spawns between matches.

It sounds like we won’t be waiting long to get a closer look at what Wardogs Season 2 brings to the table, and even before that we might see some initial improvements rolled out. Bulkhead has been fairly up-front that they don’t expect this initial success to last throughout early access, however, and Brammer reiterates that once more.
Referring to reports that the new FPS was outpacing the launch sales of both Arc Raiders and Helldivers 2 on Steam, he writes, “It won’t sustain, they’re both better games with PvE elements that carry it further. But it’s a nice sentiment.”
