The Battlefield 6 roadmap has been revealed ahead of launch, explaining exactly what to expect from the next entry in the FPS game.
With the Battlefield 6 release date coming on Oct. 10, we’ll have around a two-and-a-half week wait for the seasonal action to begin, with season 1 starting on Oct. 28.
This guide has everything you should expect from the first season in Battlefield 6, including maps, weapons, modes, and more.
Battlefield 6 season 1 roadmap
With season 1 coming on Oct. 28, the first post-launch update is called “Rogue Ops,” and it will introduce a whole host of new content, including:
- Blackwell Fields: This new map is set at a “recently recommissioned American air base in the California badlands,” and it features both land and air vehicles, along with “support for all combat sizes.”
- Strikepoint: The small yin to Blackwell Fields’ large yang, Strikepoint is a new mode where two teams of four duke it out to capture an objective each round… but players only have one life, so expect slow, tactical gameplay.
- APC Traverser Mark 2: An all-new land vehicle that seats four, including a roof gunner.
- SOR-300C: A carbine rifle which boasts .300 Blackout caliber ammunition, but has a much slower rate of fire compared to the 5.56 version.
- Mini Fix: This sniper rifle is suited to Recon players who like to push in and stay mobile, as it’s much more lightweight compared to its long-range siblings.
- GGH-22: A trusty sidearm that has a very high rate of fire but low damage to compensate.
- Rail Cover & Low Powered Variable Optic (LPVO): Two new attachments available for a myriad of weapons.
Three weeks later on Nov. 18, “California Resistance“ will drop as part of season 1.
- Eastwood: Another new map, this time set in a “sleepy, affluent suburb” in southern California, which includes a golf course and multiple tennis courts. It’s also suitable for all combat sizes and land vehicles, but helicopters are the only aerial vehicle available.
- Sabotage: This 8v8 mode takes place over two rounds: offense and defense. The objective is to either destroy or defend as many sites as possible in the time limit. Teamwork and coordinated pushes will be key.
- Battle Pickups: Last seen in Battlefield 5, Battle Pickups is a returning feature similar to power weapons in Halo, for example. Immensely powerful weapons that cannot be equipped in your loadout will spawn on the map and in the right hands, they’re capable of turning the tides of battle.
- DB-12: A pump-action shotgun that can fire twice before needing to be pumped, as it has two barrels.
- M327 Trait: Another new sidearm, this time opting for the high-damage, low fire rate approach. However, this revolver excels when you’re up close and personal though, as it has considerable damage drop-off.
- Slim Handstop: A third new attachment, this is an underbarrel grip with “a unique blend of ergonomic and handling changes.”
Finally, we have “Winter Offensive,” the third update to season 1, coming Dec. 9. No prizes for guessing what the map aesthetic is here.
- Ice Lock Empire State: Rather than adding a new map, the Empire State map is undergoing a makeover as temperatures plummet. Snow and ice is everywhere, and it arrives alongside…
- Ice Lock: A limited-time event that focuses on a new mechanic, Freeze. We don’t know much other than it’s a “gameplay modifier only active in specific experiences,” so if we had to speculate, it may feature temperature-based damage that requires you to take shelter and stay warm.
- Ice Climbing Axe: The first new melee weapon, this axe can either hack at enemies or “pick through more delicate environmental pieces.”
There’s no word yet on when the first season comes to an end, but given the three updates are three weeks apart, that would put Winter Offensive’s finish on Dec. 30. Given that the new year period is often a quiet one for new seasons in games though, an educated guess would be to bump that back by a week or two, meaning season 2 would arrive in early January.
