Woman (37) drowns during picnic at beach

Navi Mumbai: A 37-year-old woman, who worked as the personal assistant of the Thane district collector, drowned in the sea when she went for a picnic with her colleagues to Harihareshwar Beach, Raigad on Sunday.
Uttam Rikame, police inspector of Srivardhan police, informed that the deceased was identified as Pallavi Sarode. On Sunday around 8am, the group of women visited a temple and then went to the beach. Around 8.45am, Sarode sat on the rocks at the shore. Her colleagues told her to come back as it was risky, but she still sat there. As it was high tide, she was pulled inside the sea by the waves. Her colleagues raised an alarm and a local villager operating a speed boat rushed to the spot and pulled her out of the water. However, the woman had been submerged in the sea for more than 5 minutes until the speed boat reached the spot. She was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but she was still unconscious. Hence, she was rushed to Srivardhan rural hospital, where she was pronounced brought dead by the doctors.
The Thane collector office stated that Pallavi Sarode joined as a clerk at the Thane district collector office in 2012. She was promoted to assistant revenue officer in March 2024. Presently, she was the personal assistant to Thane district collector Ashok Singare. She is survived by her husband and 13-year-old son.
